5 Upcoming Fantasy Shows to Be Excited For
/Fantasy is the new western and the new Superhero genre that seems to be taking the world by storm. Here are 5 upcoming Fantasy Shows that we can all be excited for that are on there way!
The Witcher
The Witcher series popularized by the CD Project Red studio with the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt release is well into development with shooting wrapped for the first season. With Henry Cavill playing Geralt of Rivia, this series is going to be the closest release to the end of Game of Thrones on the list. Netflix is betting hard on this series to be their Game of Thrones series and with a solid cast and fantastic source material to work off I think we will be in for a treat with this series that is set to air in 2019.
Wheel of Time
Robert Jordan’s classic Wheel of Time is a highly anticipated series coming to Amazon. As a current reader of the series I am very excited to see this release to Amazon prime video in the near future. According to Variety, the series is to be starting production in the fall of 2019. This gives us some time to read the first few books before the seasons begin to air. There is a lot of content here so buckle up. Lord of the Rings Amazon Series
Amazon who appears to want to make sure they have a fantasy show that will stick is also working on a Lord of the Rings series that has a very impressive budget. This series is a way out yet but hopefully we will see something great and new come from this series. We also hope that it does not suffer from sitting in the shadow of the amazing Lord of the Rings Trilogy released by Peter Jackson. Hopefully we get to see really awesome stories of old in Middle Earth.
Dark Crystal Age of Resistance
Netfix will soon be releasing now the Dark Crystal Age of Resistance. The amount of love and care going into this production feels unmatched. And with fantastic cast of voice actors like Mark Hamill to boot! For a show that put me off as a child that I grew to really enjoy with age, I cannot wait for this show to come out to see on August 30th 2019. Game of Thrones Prequels
In all fairness I think that the prequels of the Song of Ice and Fire series that HBO is attempting to do will probably pan out to be better than the final season of the Game of Thrones series that just concluded. I am excited to see what stories they bring in the future and hopefully bring back the stronger realism feel and fantastic acting that the show used to be all about. There is nothing wrong with magic systems, but the writing really needs to improve and I think that HBO is fully aware of this themselves. Only time will tell when we start to here more. Rumor has it that one of the series will be a sequel that follows Arya as she travels west of Westros.
Conclusion
I am super excited for all these series that are on their way. Some more than others. I also know that there are many series that did not make the list here. regardless there will be a full watch schedule in the future as more series get signed on and some survive multiple seasons.
