Magic the Gathering Theros Beyond Death Released

The latest set from Wizards of the Coast Magic the Gathering Theros Beyond Death released today. The set contains 254 cards. The set is preceded by Throne of Eldraine. This theme was first visited back in September of 2013. The set theme is coving mythological beings, heroes and monsters. This set specifically will be covering the events of the Underworld of Theros.

Along with this set come a new mechanic called Escape. Spells that have escape can be cast from the graveyard at the price of their escape cost. Some creatures with this effect gain a bonus when escaping the graveyard. It seems like a relatively simple mechanic that fits the theme of this set quite nicely.

Along with Escape are some returning mechanics that we remember from before. Constellation which was released with the set Journey into Nyx. Constellation activates whenever an enchantment enters the battlefield under the players control.

Another mechanic makings it’s return is Devotion. Introduced with the original Theros set, devotion is a value based on a mana color.
